The commens in the editorial of Indian Express dated 3rd January 2023,  is very relevant. Looking at the judgment of the Supreme Court as a whole, the majority judgment of the five-judge constitution bench has not received much attention. But Justice Nagaratna's dissent seems to have gained more weight. The points she mentions, even if four to one, are worth considering.

She has objected not only to the working style of the Central Government but Reserve Bank also. It is expected and natural that the Central Government will express happiness over the said decision. Because every decision of the Government after 2014 has a black border, one of them got a boost with this court certificate.

But the questions that have arisen following this decision like demonetization achieving the desired effect, whether the volume of cash in the economy has decreased or not, cashless economy, curbing fake currency, ending terrorism, weeding out black money, deaths of common people in queues, these issues are still unanswered.

The Central Government should now, on the occasion of this verdict, should display the table showing the results on each of these issues from November 8, 2016 to December 31, 2022, so that the result obtained can be transparent and it can be proved that it was correct.
